The Archdale Family

 
 

The Archdale Family came to Fermanagh from Suffolk as part of the Jacobean Plantation of Ulster. Granted land in 1612 on the North shore of Lower Lough Erne, John Archdale built a castle and bawn, completing construction in 1615.


To mark the 400th anniversary of the 1612 land grant, the extended family of descendants of John Archdale are organising :


  1. a Homecoming in September 2012

  2. a day of talks at the Homecoming

  3. the re-publishing of the Memoirs of the Archdales

  4. the updating of the family’s genealogy

  5. the writing of a ‘Companion Volume’ o the Memoirs.
